MATTHEW WILLIAMSON
SPRING SUMMER 2007 READY TO WEAR COLLECTION
New York, 13th September 2006
'We wanted to celebrate the work we do and do it to full effect this season.'
Matthew Williamson
The spirit is optimistic and liberating, invigorated through signature themes of hyper-nature, global extravaganza and fantastical colour. There is particular focus on clean sculptured shapes, maximised to full effect when layered to create one look.
Juxtapositions between futuristic and traditional materials collide to create new texture and intrigue… large mirrored paillettes framed by natural wooden beads and elsewhere glinting silver discs edged with flashes of fluorescent thread.
Graphic floral patchwork prints shot with edible hues of coral, turquoise and peach adorn exotic cocktail pieces while dreamlike summer eveningwear is offered with giant chartreuse lotus flowers gliding across pools of inky blue silk.
Overall the collection this season hails to the heritage of Matthew Williamson and the exquisite colours, textures and prints with which the label has become synonymous.
