Amazonia:A world of nature, dreams, colours and enchantment. An infinite space that incites exploration and introspection. It is the crossroads of history magic and mystery. No place in the world could be more fascinating.
A land of sharp contrasts, noised and a perpetual background buzz, with torrential rain and violent rays of sunlight that carve a path through luxuriant forest. A land of winding rivers this seems to be the only real guardians of this abundant nature. A land inhabited by innumerable disturbing and raucous wild animal unaccustomed to human presence, recalling prehistoric species but also fabulous birds like reminders of a mythological era.
The inspiration for the collection finds its roosts in a film by Werner Herzog, Fitzcarraldo, a magnificent and powerful illustration that “he who dreams can move mountains”. The hero Brian Sweeney Fitzgerald (Fitzcarraldo) has a grand scheme: to construct an opera house in the heart of the Amazonian forest in Manaus. Fitzcarraldo dreams of inviting the greatest master of lyric art on stage, particularly the most famous tenor of them all: Enrico Caruso. Without an instant of hesitation, and with the help of the native Indians, he hauls his boat over the mountains and makes his own dream that of everyone around him.
The collection plays on this opposition between the magnificence of this nature and the essential simplicity of the life led by the Indians.
It is a source of vibrant, sunny, violent and intense colours: turquoise, yellow, purple, ochre, dark orange, moss green, and emerald green, but also white, creams, black and coffee.In a kaleidoscopic whirlwind of animal prints and lush floral fantasies. And, as always, contrasts of colours, embroideries, sequins and feathers.
Iridescent cable knits, geometric jacquards, crochet with inset feathers, floral marquetry, metal studs, fluid viscose and ample shapes. And, profusion of radiant, multicoloured accessories.
So as not to take yourself too seriously… and continue always and forever more to dream.
